Dotte provides a full-circle remedy to fast fashion for kids. Unlike adult consumer fast fashion behaviour being driven by the desire of wanting something new, the kidswear market has always been driven by the need for new clothes that they outgrow. And, with children’s clothes having an average of 2-3 months wear and our little ones getting through around 280 clothing items before their 2nd birthday, it’s no surprise the global resale market is set to be twice as big as fast fashion by 2030.
Since its launch during lockdown in 2020, dotte has become the fastest-growing peer-to-peer marketplace dedicated to kids’ fashion, where parents can buy, sell, donate and recycle their outgrown children’s clothing. The brand boasts support from iconic British fashion institutions M & S & Clarks who offer vouchers for simply re-selling your old branded clothing, alongside a wide choice of more than 25,000 pre-loved items of clothing on its platform.
This month dotte is celebrating its 2nd birthday with an app launch and new brand image that’s set to expand the brand’s service offering even further and make it easier for their community to resell, donate & recycle. The app launch and new look see a slew of new features added such as; a genderless search tool.
Dotte speaks to families who want a sustainable solution to the piles of kidswear they are holding onto in their attics while breathing new life into their little ones’ treasured clothes. The brand goes beyond peer-to-peer buying and selling by also offering their community donation and recycling options. Believing that together we can slow fashion down, make every stitch count, and love every fibre of the fabric. dotte bolsters this offering with curated edits, style guides and brand collaborations with the UK’s leading childrenswear retailers with its ‘Resale Collective’ (featuring perks and discounts from our favourite kidswear brands like M&S and Clarks) to make shopping second-hand feel like new.
Every year over 183 Million items of children’s clothing find themselves in landfill in the UK alone* dotte are on a mission to slow down the fastest part of fashion, childrenswear, and turn their marketplace into a movement that will offer savings for parents’ pockets and the planet.
