London is known for its huge theatre scene. There are so many West End shows to choose from. So if you’re planning on taking a trip, going and seeing a show is a must. You can easily grab tickets to any performance you like the look of and have hours of fun-filled entertainment. Plus, no matter your tastes, there’s a bit of something for everyone. Think musicals, comedy and tragedies, whatever genre you enjoy, there’s a show out there that’ll be perfect for you.
You can’t go to London without doing a bit of sightseeing, especially if it’s your first time. Often, top of the list is Buckingham Palace, which is definitely worth taking a look at and can be quite a spectacle if you time your visit with the Changing of the Guard. Another historical landmark you shouldn’t miss visiting is the Tower of London, where you can learn about different people who ended up imprisoned in its walls – as well as being the home to the crown jewels, which you can also visit!
If you enjoy a bit of shopping but want to avoid the big retailers, then you’ll enjoy some of the markets scattered around. Like a lot of the historical markets in London, Borough Market has roots dating back around 1000 years. With over 100 stalls with its main focus on food, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Another market worth a visit is the Columbia Road flower market. As the name suggests, there are a lot of stalls with a focus on selling plants and flowers, but that’s not all. You can find a variety of different stalls selling all sorts, as well as local independent shops, also benefitting from the market’s presence. Plus, it’s a very instagrammable place to take those much wanted pics for your stories.
Culture, art and history are all very much a part of London, and the same goes for its abundance of galleries and museums. You have to visit at least one museum or art gallery when visiting London and there are so many to choose from. If you’re more into art then the Tate Britain and Tate Modern are worth a look (Tate Modern being more contemporary and Tate Britain being more traditional). Both can take you a couple of hours to look fully round, and as a bonus, both are free to enter.
If you only have time to visit one museum or gallery, then you have to go to the Natural History Museum. Not only are the exhibits fascinating to look at (and you’ll want to spend the entire day there) but the building itself is stunning to look at and wander around. It would be a shame to miss!
